I hate to mention something so horrible, but after I received a call from my friend Terri I just had to comment on yesterday's mall shooting. She lives just outside of Omaha and knows several people who were in the mall when that guy came in with his shot gun. None of her friends were injured, but were extremely frightened.

It seems to be the typical case of someone who was depressed, lived a hard life, was probably neglected or even abused, and thought the only way he would be known to anyone was to make the news in such a huge way. I had a very close friend in high school that committed suicide. She had a lot of problems and just fell into a horrible place of no return. She didn't leave a note, nor did she feel that other people needed to die just because she couldn't find another way. I still miss her everyday.

If you're in so much pain or distress that you feel that suicide is your only option, why cause so many other people so much pain. These individuals that were killed didn't know the shooter, never caused him any problems and yet these were the people that he targeted. I just don't get it! The world is a scary, scary place.
